The publisher of my debut YA novel, Summer on Fire, had a retreat this weekend in Montreal. Members of the MuseItUp family came from across North America to take part in it. Organized by the publisher and marketing director (Lea Schizas & Litsa Kamateros), it was an amazing event with an itinerary filled with exciting things to do in and around Montreal. There was a meet and greet Friday evening at Casa Grecque (amazing restaurant – amazing food!), a HUGE book-signing event at Zellers Pointe Claire Saturday afternoon, dinner Saturday at Baton Rouge, an uproarious evening of comedy at the Comedy Nest Saturday night (which was inside the Montreal Forum, former home of my favourite hockey team the Montreal Canadiens!) and a couple of brunches to top off the schedule of events. Lea and Litsa did an amazing job organizing this three day extravaganza! The weekend ran like clockwork, with not a single bump in the schedule. Fun was had by all! Not only did the authors, editors, and publishing team get a chance to get to know one another, but we also had a great opportunity to get our name out there while doing so. The Zellers book signing was a huge success. Litsa did an amazing job promoting it, both prior to the event AND at the event.
I’m extremely proud to be a member of the MuseItUp family. It’s a tight-knit group of highly supportive professionals who also know how to have a great time. My only regret is that the rest of the MuseItUp family were not there to celebrate with us. Hopefully we’ll have a second retreat (let’s call it what it is, a reunion…a family reunion).
It was an honour to have my novel sharing the table with such amazing books!
