You have to question the universe when God decides to leave Twitter.

I thought the end was nigh already…what with Stephen Fry closing down his Twitter account last week. But this? This seems even more apocalyptic. God has left the building.

Apparently, David Javerbaum–who ran the account and wrote the book The Last Testament: A Memoir By God, along with the Broadway play An Act of God–has better things to do. As for why God abandoned us? All signs are pointing to the master suckage of time that is Twitter. I can’t help but look to the horizon for a mushroom cloud of condemnation. Of social media.

Will God’s followers take his lead and step off the cliff of Twitterlandia? Perhaps it is too soon to tell. Though Jesus is just alright with me, God is kinda the bomb. I’ll be sad to see him go.

My all-time favourite Tweet of God happened last month when Mr. David Bowie died. The tweet itself brought a tear to my eye.

I’d like to leave you with God’s 10 Commandments for TODAY. Maybe in his absence from the Twitterverse, we can try to be a bit more like him. Here you go, words to live by from TheTweetOfGod:

Thank you, God, for being one of us. If only for a little while.

Godspeed, God…
