Mark your calendars for this very worthy cause! The next WRITERS FOR HOPE auction in support of RAPE, ABUSE and INCEST NATIONAL NETWORK (RAINN) will be held on Monday, April 4th, 2016 from 12:00am – 11:59pm EST.

100% of the money raised from this auction goes directly to RAINN, which is the USA’s largest anti-sexual assault organization. All items in the auction will have a starting bid of $10.00—which is the amount it costs RAINN to help one survivor through the NATIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT HOTLINE (1-800-656-HOPE).

The fundraiser will have items of interest to both writers and readers. You will be able to bid on signed books, writing critiques, consultation calls, and book related accessories donated by over 60 amazing donors.

I will have an item in the auction. Up for bidding from me will be a three-pack of my young adult novel titles. Burn Baby Burn Baby, Half Dead & Fully Broken, and, Summer on Fire…all paperbacks and all signed.

While I have you, I’d like to make a couple book recommendations for victims of sexual abuse, more specifically for male victims of sexual abuse. Dr. Howard Fradkin specializes in this field. He, and a corral of other therapists, form to make up the backbone of MALESURVIVOR.ORG. The organization is doing amazing things to assist male victims of sexual assault to reclaim their lives. They are saving lives. I’ve been to Male Survivor Weekend of Recovery twice, and I was very fortunate to have been paired with Dr. Howard Fradkin both times. He knows his stuff. HE saves lives. His book is an excellent course in recovery that all survivors of sexual abuse should read. It is beyond powerful. Click on the book cover below to be taken to Amazon to review the book’s details:

The second book I’d like to mention is one from the market of fiction that I myself write in. It’s a young adult novel by the author G. Donald Cribbs. The Packing House. Here’s the blurb for this book:

When sixteen-year-old Joel Scrivener has a raging nightmare in study hall and someone records it on their phone, he awakens to a living nightmare where everyone knows the secret he’s avoided for ten years. Reeling from a series of bullying incidents posted on YouTube and an ill-timed mid-year move, Joel takes to the woods, leaving the bullies and his broken home behind. However, life as a runaway isn’t easy. Joel finds it difficult to navigate break-ins, wrestle hallucinations, and elude capture. He races to figure out who his dream-world attacker could be, piecing clues together with flashes of remembered images that play endlessly inside his head. Besides thes e images, the one constant thought occupying Joel’s mind is Amber Walker, the girl he’s been in love with for years. Amber sees little beyond the broken boy Joel has become, despite the letters they’ve written back and forth to each other. But Joel is stronger and more resilient than he looks, and it’s time he convinces Amber of this fact, before he runs out of chances with her for good.

I reviewed this novel on my book review site and you can read my thoughts here:
