Another leg of the journey is over! My upcoming novel baby, BOOK OF DREAMS, is OFF TO THE PRINTER!

I swear to you, every single step to publication is simultaneously (and equal parts) terrifying, exciting, overwhelming, and exhilarating! I am an emotional mess right now, realizing that the run up to the end has finally arrived. Yes, yes…there is publication day and all the exhausting things that come with the next two or three months…but the heavy work is done. No more will I have to read and reread and reread and reread my baby. Come what may, my manuscript is–at this very moment–what it is. A baby is born. It’s my time to let it go…

In reference to the title of this post, feast your eyes on the above photo…for it is THE WRAP. The literal wrap for the manuscript that is now the novel, BOOK OF DREAMS!

I wrote this baby at the 72hr Muskoka Novel Marathon, some years ago. The MNM is a novel writing marathon where 40 writers get locked into one room and attempt to each write a novel. Book of Dreams was one of many of my attempts. Twelve, to be exact. You never know what’s going to be born at the marathon, or whether or not you’ll be able to use what you frenetically jot down in those chaotic hours. I’m just grateful that I get to take some of my MNM manuscripts to the finish line. So proud of this MNM offering!

Just over 2 months from today, this baby will be birthed into the world. SEPTEMBER 13th is release day! That also so happens to be my 56th birthday! Nice way to celebrate a new release!

He steps inside and is immediately enthralled by its antiquarian sights and smells. But one book in particular calls to him. It isn’t long before he gets a bad feeling about it, but it’s already too late. The store’s aged bookseller gives him no alternative: once he touches the book, it’s his—whether he wants it or not. It’s bought and paid for and there are no returns. The book leads Gaige on a horrific descent into the unknown. As he falls into the depths of its pages, he loses blocks of time, and his friends become trapped inside ancient cellars with seemingly no means of escape. Gaige soon learns that the ancient bookseller is a notorious serial killer from a previous century, and fears that he has fallen into a predicament from which he may not escape. When all seems lost, he finds the one person he can turn to for help—Mael, a sweet teen also trapped inside the book who didn’t fall for the bookseller’s tricks. Together, they race against time to protect Gaige from joining a long string of boys who vanished without a trace inside the Book of Dreams.
