Connie has a Podcast! THAT’S WHAT WE THINK

My friend (and two-time editor!) Connie di Pietro has a new podcast with her longtime friend Stephen Wilson.

I have been meaning to listen in on this podcast for a couple of weeks now. Have I ever told you that I have an extremely horrid attention span? It’s true. This is the reason I kept forgetting to tune in. I knew I would enjoy it the moment Connie told me about it, but then…oh, look…squirrel!

Photo to break up the words. This is one of two of Connie’s anthologies that I was fortunate enough to have short stories in! (Allucinor and Purgatorium. Look them up! Great collections!)

Well, this week she got me. She messaged me to let me know she mentioned me in the podcast. It was the reminder I NEEDED. (-;

This week’s episode happens to be about the movies that Connie and Steve love. Turns out, so many of the movies they mentioned are movies I love. Although, I’m in Steve’s corner when it comes to Princess Bride. It just never looked like something I would enjoy. NEVER SEEN IT. I’ve seen numerous clips from it, of course. Especially over the past decade or so. I feel like I’ve seen it because of all the pop-culture references that have been pulled from it. But nope. No interest in seeing it. Most of the other movies mentioned, I absolutely love. I have, though, come to suspect Connie as a person. She has not yet watched the Breakin’ movies. I don’t know what to do with this information. Connie…I have words.

I laughed through their discussion of the drive-in. How they paid for the car-load and 72 people would squeeze into the car. The foot-wells would hold people, the trunk would hold people. I began to wonder if maybe I was in one of the same cars as Connie way back when…because we definitely did the same thing. I’m pretty sure you didn’t actually have to know 20 or 30 of the people in the same car as you. (-; Possibly our paths crossed in the ’80s after all.

I think we saw SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL at the drive-in about 6 times. Movies were slow to change out at our drive-in. And it was a great movie.

Anyway, I REALLY enjoyed this episode and I’ll definitely be tuning in to more. It will be the perfect thing to listen to in the car.

Oh! I almost forgot about the mention. I tuned in because she told me she mentioned me. Connie is SO BRAZEN! Don’t let her charm fool you. She actually admitted on the podcast about the time she stole my coffee cup. The NERVE! If she tries to auction off that cup in a future episode, please don’t bid on it. That cup is the proceeds of crime. She’s sippin’ from ill-gotten gains. I couldn’t believe the on-air admitting of her plundering. Some people!

Shout out for the great discussion on representation near the end of the episode. I felt the hope, and the fear of the current backsliding. Great discussion. We’re definitely NOT THERE when it comes to representation. It looked like we were getting there, but…

Give Connie & Steve a listen. I promise…you’ll enjoy it.
